Lymphatic Drainage Massage

The lymphatic system works closely with the circulatory system - a network of arteries, veins and capillaries that carry blood around the body. Lymph moves into the tissues, delivering oxygen, proteins and other nutrients, as well as removing damaged cells, bacteria and viruses.
This lymph then travels towards lymph nodes located throughout the body for filtering before returning to the bloodstream.
Lymphatic drainage massage is a technique used to promote the removal of excess fluid buildup and toxins in the body. This is done by encouraging lymph in the direction of lymph nodes. This helps to prevent a build up of lymph fluid that can cause swelling in a part of the body.
Some conditions that may benefit are as follows:-
-
Lymphoedema
(common with active Cancer, or with Cancer treatment, or after Cancer surgery where lymph nodes have been removed) -
Rheumatoid arthritis
-
Chronic venous insufficiency
-
Fibromyalgia
-
Lipoedema
-
Chronic sinus infection
-
Stress
-
Physical trauma
-
Immobility as a result of illness or injury
